Numbers 13:1 God said “Send men to scout out the country of Canaan that I AM GIVING to the people of Israel. Send one man from each tribe, each a tried and true leader in the tribe.”
God had said it was their land… It was for the Israelites to take hold of. They were given instructions and told to head into the land and then there were a bunch of things to look at and take notice of. Some of those things were overwhelming and scary (the enemies) and some things were fantastic (the giant fruit).
Scouting out the land often isn’t a comfortable place. But when God asks you to do it, it’s because He has promises to fulfil. And He will give you all you need.
It’s about taking authority, overcoming, provision and promise.
It’s connected to purpose – His purpose for us – His purpose for this world – His purpose for eternity.
Caleb and Joshua were just two out of the twelve spies sent in. The other ten spies were filled with fear… they saw all the negatives. But these two saw promise and a bigger picture.
God said about Caleb in Numbers 14:24 “But my servant Caleb, this is a different story. He has a different spirit , he follows Me passionately. Ill bring him into the land that he scouted and his children will inherit it.”
What we claim and take authority over is not only for us, but for those that COME AFTER US….. let’s have the spirit like Caleb’s // to follow Him passionately is what He is looking for. A spirit that longs to be connected to God in such a close and intimate way, that we will do whatever it takes.
Don’t throw this word out. This may be a simple word, but as you let it settle, He will unfold it for each one of us differently. So don’t throw it out, just let it settle in your spirit. God wants to use this word to remind you that His promises are for us and for those around us.
