Testimony Sunday – time to share the “God stories” of His work in our lives

Sharing our God stories is part of our church culture. It’s important for us to give glory to God in many ways, and make His name known amongst us and outside of us.

Revelation 19:10 says, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.””

That is to say that testimonies of the grace and mercy of God at work in our own life carries a prophetic power to see the same expressions of God’s kingdom released in others. Now sometimes Jesus instructed people NOT to tell anyone what he had done for them. He did not want a ‘circus’ of crowds following him around (even though that ended up happening sometimes). It is the gospel message of salvation, of which healing and miracles testify, that is our primary focus.

Then we come to the story of a demonised man (Luke 8:26-39) whom Jesus casts out the demons and sets him free. To this one Jesus says, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” (Luke 8:39). That is our ongoing mission – to give glory and honour to God by telling everyone how much he has done for us.

If you were not there to read the stories that were written down and placed all around the walls, I am afraid you missed out! It is amazing to read so many testimonies of God at work in so many different ways!
