Celebrating Ten Years of Lifeway CRC Church

Dave and Caroline share briefly some reflections of significant aspects of the foundations of Lifeway Church and what God helped us imagine in the vision for what this church would be like.

Back in early 2015 while gathered on Lighthouse Beach, Dave heard a whisper from the Spirit that it is “time to gather stones together” (Ecclesiastes 3).

Fast forward to December 2020 and those who called Lifeway Church “home” performed a prophetic act together as a symbol of fulfilling Jesus call for us to be the “light of the world” and “a city on a hill that cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). We are all just “broken pieces” that God shapes and renews and builds us together into something beautiful, a temple filled with His Spirit and Presence, a light that shines, a beautiful city that no one can miss – the city of the Living God!

city on a hill, light of the world

Caroline shares a significant revelation that God spoke all those years ago, a vision of the kingdom of God made visible in the church in a way that fully engages with God’s mission to our city.

I see this church plant as Jesus’ plant … This is His plan … This comes from His heart for ALL people to be reached.

This church will do its best to model love as Jesus modelled love.

This church will be open to everyone. The doors will be open. This is a place for the hungry to be fed, for the poor to be provided for, for the sick to be made well, for the needy to have their needs met by Jesus.

This church will be a place where restoration, freedom and a fresh start will be the norm. Where the expectation each and every day is that lives will be changed radically by the power of Jesus Christ.

This church, spearheaded and led by the Father, son and Holy Spirit, will invest into the community.

This church will be a place where lost sheep will find a shepherd.

This church will be a place where the disenfranchised will be cared for, be reminded of Jesus’ vision for them and their lives.

This church will invest into future generations without holding back.

This church will be a church made up of people that resolve to live radical lives for Jesus.

This church will be a bright light shining in the very darkest places.

This church will see an increase of Jesus’ influence and kingship in people’s lives …. This is the cause of God’s Kingdom.

This church will be a place of celebration and joy.

I believe that we will live, work, and serve in our community (and it MUST become our community) and do real life with people.

I believe we will be in the marketplace.

I believe we will see people added to our numbers (not really about numbers, but about changed lives and hearts re-awakened to the purpose that was breathed into them by God at the moment of conception).

I believe that there may be hard times and painful moments as we walk through life with people. But I believe God will bring about outstanding testimonies that will resound around our nation for His glory.

****I believe we will see people raised up as key leaders in the community.*****

I believe we will see the name of Jesus lifted high. So high that people can’t ignore His name or His love and be drawn to His love.

We will have etched in our hearts this: “so we’ll stand, with arms high and hearts abandoned, in awe of the one who gave it all”.
