Who am I holding and who is holding me?

Last week Caroline displayed an image of a circle of many hands each holding onto one another. Not holding hands in the typical sense, but each wrist being held by another hand making a circle of support and strength. It is a powerful image that reminds us how God has designed us to support and love one another in community.

Unity is not uniformity – being made one is all about the uniqueness of the different parts that make up a healthy body. Paul talks about the church using the metaphor of a body that works together and has care for all its parts as a single entity. He says , “God has put the body together, giving greater honour to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.” (1 Corinthians 12:24-25)
