The apostle Paul wrote about the incredible greatness of God’s power for those who believe in Christ. He describes God’s power at work in us as being the same power that raised Christ from the dead and elevated him to the place of highest authority and power over the entire creation!

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 1:19-20 (NLT)

And yet, our daily lived experience being in the age of “now and not yet”, in which the kingdom of has come and is being manifest through the rule of Jesus Christ and through his people here on earth, is that suffering, sickness and death still exist. All of us are touched by it. That tension is never more present than when someone who knows the Lord and has faith in him suffers with sickness and dies. The Bible says that “people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” (Hebrews 9:27), but also that the same resurrection power that raised Christ is now at work for us!

How do we reconcile these things with the promise of God’s presence – the Holy Spirit’s power and presence given to us, living in us, dwelling in our midst?
What according to Scripture is certain, and what is possible but not necessarily promised as being for all believers all of the time?
