Many of you will have seen reports of the devastating floods that struck northern Nepal on 26th August 2026. A massive surge of water, mud and debris swept through communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, destroying villages, roads, bridges and other infrastructure. Tragically, many lives have been lost, with others still missing and communities facing a long period of recovery.
It is encouraging to report that, at this stage, none of our CRC churches or ministries in Nepal have been directly impacted. However, a number of other Christian communities in the affected areas have suffered significant loss.
Some of the preliminary reports we have received include:
- Syaprubesi Church, Rasuwa – 3 believers missing
- Punarutthan Church, Nuwakot – church damaged and pastor missing
- Mailung Church, Rasuwa – approximately 50 believers reported missing
- Santi Bazar, Nuwakot – approximately 30 believers reported deceased
- Timure Church, Rasuwa – severe loss of life, with the pastor reported as the only survivor
- Tukche Anugrah Church, Nuwakot – 4 believers missing
- Dakhbari Church, Rasuwa – 17 people missing
- Grace Church, Nuwakot – 3 believers missing
- St. Petra Church, Nuwakot – 4 believers missing
- Naw Jyoti Baptist Church, Nuwakot – partly damaged
These are early reports through church contacts, and some details are still being confirmed.
At this stage, many government agencies and international organisations are responding to the immediate humanitarian crisis, and some of our churches and members may already have given through those channels.
However, a number of people have also asked whether they can support those affected through our existing church relationships in Nepal. We do have trusted contacts who can assist in the impacted areas and assist churches, pastors and families as the immediate emergency response begins to settle.

Above all, please encourage your churches to pray for Nepal — for those grieving the loss of loved ones, those still searching for missing family members, the rescue and recovery teams, and the churches seeking to bring practical help, encouragement and the hope of Jesus into these devastated communities.
