The Journey: Position yourself for more

It doesn't matter who we are, we are on a journey ... life is a journey. It's all about how we walk it out, what we learn along the way, and how we position ourselves for greater things. Just personally, I feel like I've talked about this a lot over the last few years - it's become a big part of my language. I guess I believe that the life journey I am on has had such a varied range of landscapes and lookouts, bumps in the road and some amazing smooth highways to go seriously fast on (please note, I am not talking literally :-)). The one thing I am absolutely sure of is that I know that I don't want to journey anywhere without Jesus.    When our kids were all little, we were generously given a week's holiday down south near Batemans’s Bay. We decided on one of the days that we were going to do a walk…

From Exile to Promise (and everything in between)

The Lord recently reminded me of one of the promises that He gave us when we first moved up to Port Macquarie. It's in Jeremiah 29 4-7. But as I started to dig a bit deeper into this Scripture, He showed me more and I believe it's for us for now. Jeremiah 29: 1-14  "This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 2 (This was after King Jehoiachin and the queen mother, the court officials and the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the skilled workers and the artisans had gone into exile from Jerusalem.) 3 He entrusted the letter to Elasah son of Shaphan and to Gemariah son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to King Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. It said:4 This is what the Lord Almighty, the…

The Presence of God Sets Us Apart

A couple of weeks ago, my husband was telling me that heard from others about a gathering of people that has emerged around the world, calling themselves the Sunday Assemblies. Basically, it's a church without God. Wow. It made me start to think about the difference God's presence makes. I believe God’s presence is visible, tangible, recognisable and powerful.

Listening and responding

Recently I have been thinking about the story in Acts 9:1-19.... Saul's experience on his trip to Damascus.   Grab your Bible and have a read. Many of you know the story already but read it again..... Saul was a man who was out to get the Jesus-followers.... those ones who had encountered Jesus and were saying he was the Messiah, God's son. His purpose was determined and clear ... Lock them up, shut them up, get rid of them.  Then Jesus met with Him in the most incredible way. This is what Jesus does... It's who He is. He loves people to encounter Him and His love.  So as His followers / disciples He calls us to walk out life as He did while He was on earth..... Loving people, listening to the voice of our Father.  When I re-read this story, there were a couple of things that really jumped out at me.... A couple of things that…
